Tip 5 for Being a Better Leader: Know and Communicate Expectations

Leaders are responsible for establishing and maintaining the conditions for the success of their team and this includes making their requirements and expectations are understood.  If you are uncertain of what approach to the job you require of your team, how are they suppose to know? If you don’t communicate your expectations to colleagues, how are they suppose to meet them? 
By considering and communicating your expectations, you set boundaries for the acceptable and unacceptable for your team. As Carley Okyle reflects,  “knowing what you will not tolerate can save everyone in the office a lot of frustration, and keeping boundaries clear means there’s no confusion.” When people know what is expected, they can more easily meet and exceed those expectations.
