Microsoft Word Tip 2: Built-in Save to PDF

by Apr 11, 2019

There was a time when exporting your Word document to PDF required extra software that effectively pretended to be a printer. Those days are gone. Now transforming your word document file into a sleek and professional PDF can be done with three clicks of the mouse.

Why send a PDF instead of a Word document? They are actually easier to open as not everyone uses Microsoft Word and while other word processing programs such as Google Docs and Apple Pages can open the files, the formatting down not always look the same.

Here are the steps to take for saving your Microsoft Word document as a PDF:

Step 1: Select ‘Save As’ from File Tab as seen in the picture below.

Step 2: ‘Browse’ to the location you would like to save your file.

Step 3: Below the spot where you enter your file name, select ‘Save type as’ and choose PDF instead of Word file.

That’s it. Transforming your Word document into a PDF is as easy as that. This tip also works for other Microsoft Office Programs as well.
