No Such Thing As The Perfect Job

by Dec 5, 2019

Today we’re here to discuss the importance of keeping an open mind when considering the kind of work you’re looking for in both temporary and permanent positions. There is no such thing as the perfect job. Every role has its benefits! Thinking that you need to wait for the perfect job to bring your full potential to your work will negatively impact you in both the present and the future. And using a staffing agency offers you the opportunity to explore options you might not have imagined before.

If you’re coming into the job market straight from undergrad, it might feel like you absolutely HAVE to work in a field that is directly related to your major. But taking such an approach limits your possibilities. Skills learned from your degree are still useful in your work even if it’s not obvious right off the bat. Critical thinking, attention to detail, and clear communication are all skills you had to hone to finish school. And these are qualities that employers are looking for! You might find your calling in something never imagined or expected. Having the attitude of not giving your work your all unless it’s your “dream job” will keep you from progressing within the field you’re currently working in. That, more than anything, will impede your progress. The type of work you’re exposed to as a temp could end up changing your life. So make sure you’re giving it your all, putting as much effort into that temporary role as you would your “ideal,” permanent position.

You might also feel like you’re struggling because you don’t have a clear blueprint or a five year plan for your career goals. If you can’t predict a career path for you, that’s also perfectly fine! Remember, there is no such thing as a perfect job that you need to be searching for. It’s important for you to be mindful in the present. Commit to the job you’re working while you’re working. You, too, might find yourself enjoying a particular field even if you didn’t expect to from the outset. Keep an open, dedicated mind and we know you’ll find a job that maximizes your potential.
