Having Fun While Getting Things Done
There’s magic in the air! And the weather is perfect for curling up with a cup of hot cocoa. With all this seasonal delight to be found, you might be finding it a bit hard to concentrate at work this week. Today we’re here to talk about giving work your all even when the holidays are calling your name. Though these techniques can be used for any week where you might be feeling distracted! Check out these tips on how to stay focused AND full of cheer:
Start with Arina Nikitina at Lifehack’s #1 way, “Always Find the Fun in What You Do.” She suggests “allowing your creativity and imagination to play in the process. Don’t stick within borders of ‘approved’ output; have your options opened for new, fun ideas. When you make something you can call your own, you’re more likely to stay focused at work.” And we couldn’t agree more! This is also a great way to show your boss that you’ll be invested in any task that they might throw your way.
Another technique for staying focused comes from Inc.’s Bruce Eckfeldt: “Find a partner and do a productivity challenge to see who can get more done in an hour or ninety minutes.” Getting to know your teammate better AND getting your work done in a fun way? Everyone’s a winner.
Neil Patel at Forbes suggests, “Start Each Morning With Exercise.” He adds, “You don’t have to go to the gym and spend 3 hours pumping iron like Arnold in his prime either. Simply getting the blood flowing for 20 minutes will sufficiently spark your mind and help you develop stronger focus throughout the day.” Exercise doesn’t have to be a drag–find your own form of fun movement that you’ll want to keep going back to every morning.
This time of year is especially great for resting and relaxing. Believe us, we’re looking forward to doing lots of both, too! But as the end of 2019 draws near, you’ll want to make sure you’re finishing strong–AND setting the stage for getting your 2020 off to a great start. You’ve got this! And we’ll see you back on Friday for more ways to keep your spirits bright.
