Our University client in Boston is looking for two Student Advisors/Managers to manage academic advising for students and counsel students on academic policies, procedures, and requirements. These are contract full-time On-Site positions. Only local candidates considered.
The Student Advisors/Managers will counsel and provide guidance to individuals for two programs:
Summer Term Program Advisor/Manager (Summer Challenge)
The Summer Term Program Manager (Summer Challenge) manages all aspects of the one- and two-week pre-college programs offered by Summer Term. The Program Manager is solely responsible for the admissions processes of Summer Challenge and Summer Preview, programs which receive over 1000 applications each season. They make all admissions decisions for the one- and two-week pre-college programs and oversee communication processes with applicants and their parents/guardians. They serve as the liaison for our non-profit partnerships, working with partner organizations to support low-income students who participate in the programs. In addition, the Program Manager is responsible for creating, organizing, and implementing program activities for Summer Challenge and Summer Preview; for providing on-call support during emergencies; for supervising student and temporary workers; for running program check-ins; and for mediating student conflicts. The Program Manager also supports the Associate Director and the Director with other tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the High School Programs and Summer Term offices.
Advisor/Program Manager (HS Honors)
The Program Manager (HS Honors) manages the High School Honors program as well as office operations for Summer Term High School Programs. In managing High School Honors, they are responsible for all aspects of the pre-college program, including admissions, development, implementation, and assessment. Reviews international applications for compliance with immigration regulations. Advises students on academic issues. In managing office operations, they establish business processes and procedures for High School Programs, ensuring excellence across five unique pre-college programs. Hires and supervises office assistants and student workers, as well as a seasonal residential staff that includes two Student Life Coordinators and approximately 30 Program Assistants. Develops and runs trainings for the office and residential staff. Oversees the planning and delivery of all program activities, program check-ins, and student orientations, and provides on-call support during emergencies. In consultation with the Associate Director, sets academic and residential policies. Adjudicates discipline infractions among students and residential staff. Supports the Director and the Associate Director in the operation of Summer Term and provides back-up support to the other Program Managers in the High School Programs office.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree with 5 years related experience advising and/or counseling students
- Masters degree with 3-5 years related experience advising and/or counseling students
- Preferably experience in College or HS programming
