Our client, a Boston-based University, is in need of a well rounded Business Analyst with excellent soft and technical skills, and able to work well with all stakeholders. As the Senior IT Business Analyst you will act as a strategic liaison between stakeholders and IT. You’ll analyze business problems, identify IT solutions, and recommend strategies while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. You’ll need to balance strong business acumen with technical know-how.
This is a full-time hybrid contract position which is expected to last a minimum of 6 months, but could also extend longer or transform into a temporary permanent opportunity for the right individual. The job requires three days on-site (Boston, MA Campus), with the remaining days working remotely.
Day-to-Day Tasks
- Business Case Development
- Build business case financials to support strategic IT investments.
Requirements Gathering & Documentation
- Lead stakeholder meetings and workshops on assigned projects
- Use design thinking, journey mapping, focus groups, etc.
- Translate business needs into detailed system requirements
- Write functional specs, technical docs, and user stories
Stakeholder Management
- Interface regularly with internal customers, third-party vendors, and IT teams
- Present solutions clearly to both executives and non-technical users
- Facilitate requirements sign-offs and keep communication flowing across project phases
Project & Change Support
- Contribute to change management strategies
- Participate in development planning, milestone tracking, and contingency strategy creation
- Help QA teams ensure the solution meets documented requirements
- Assist in documentation for testing and end-user training
Process Improvement & Governance
- Enhance BA and PMO processes
- Support project pipeline prioritization and portfolio management
- Drive standardization and documentation of best practices
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in CS, IS, BA or similar equivalent work experience.
- Requires 5-7 years’ experience in one or more information technology disciplines.
- Exposure to digital technologies and related requirements elicitation methods is required
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-7 years of experience with business analysis work involving large complex IT projects and building/fostering a broad range of business relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Previous experience working in the higher education industry is also a plus.
