Director of Financial Aid for a University program in Boston

Our University client in Boston is looking for a Director of Financial Aid for one of their programs. The contract is initially for 3 months with the potential to go perm.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Directs all aspects of the financial aid function for program.
• Manages, maintains and tracks a financial aid scholarship budget.
• Interfaces with all program students and staff as well as other offices providing subject matter expertise and guidance.
• Represents program on major university wide financial aid committees.
• Provides counseling for students and applicants regarding general financial aid availability, student loans (federal and private) all for graduate programs
• Creates and revises publications, forms and websites relating to financial aid and participates in recruiting events.
• Develops and executes financial aid strategy in support of students
• Manages, tracks and monitors budgets totaling more than 10 million dollars in school-based scholarships to ensure awarding strategies are consistent with school resources.
• Provides financial aid information for accreditation reviews.
• Oversees statistical reports for surveys.
• Researches and resolves financial aid and student account problems.
• Reconciles financial reports.
• Assists students in appropriate budget planning and advises on best methods to finance education with lowest borrowing.
• Counsels students in distress/crisis over financial difficulties and fear of debt and loan repayment.
• Manages confidential student matters and private financial data.
• Advocates on behalf of students in order to ensure optimal student experience.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree (in a related field)
• Prior experience financial aid for a University
• Prior experience with budgeting and reporting
• Comfort working with a range of stakeholders.
