Our client is looking for an  inquisitive, entrepreneurial, and relationship-minded individual to fill the role of a long-term (8 months) Digital Solutions Engineer.  This is a full-time hybrid post with three days onsite and the other two remote.

The job is at a Boston based University where there are in need an expert in digital transformation with a passion for understanding the “people side” of business and applying tools that digitally transform the workplace. With a collaboration tools/rooms focus these “people-first” roles, within the digital university solutions team, will work directly with members of the university community, including those who manage/use collaboration spaces/tools as well as those who oversee and use teaching and learning spaces/tools) to understand and solution their collaboration needs, both in terms of physical spaces as well as with tools and services, independent of space.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about streamlining work using technology and stay up to date on the latest platforms, tools, and developments in one or more of the following focuses:

Process Digitization: Properly understanding a business need and applying tools like Microsoft 365 Power Suite, Qualtrics, ServiceNow, Miro, and others to modernize business process.

Effective Electronic Collaboration: Properly using Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Miro, and other online collaboration tools to communicate.

Digital Productivity Tools: Inserting digital productivity tools into everyday life to raise efficiency. Tools like Microsoft OneNote, Microsoft To Do, and others may be used for this.

Virtual Event Management: Consulting and ensuring virtual events are setup for success.

Audio-Visual (AV) Hardware: Consulting with the community on space usage then researching, designing, and testing modern, digital AV hardware that could fit their needs.

Being on the “front line” between IT Services and the community, this individual will need to have strong collaboration, communication, and customer service skills to successfully partner with members at various levels. To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, a flexible schedule is required. The employee may be required to work outside his/her regular working hours and on university holidays.

Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite of tools – specifically Microsoft Teams, Office 365, To Do, Forms, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Power Suite (PowerAutomate, PowerBI, PowerApps, Excel).
  • Understanding of business process automation.
  • Experience with PowerShell.
  • Expertise in consulting with end users and translating business needs to technical specifications.
  • Experience with designing, building, and handing off digital solutions to business units.
  • Experience working with other IT teams to scope out and design projects.
  • Experience with AV hardware, specifically Microsoft Teams Room Systems.

Responsibilities

Consultations

  • Meet with end users to listen, observe, and understand their business.
  • Demo tools and other solutions to help them grasp how they fit in to the work they do.
  • Document needs and process.
  • Meet with internal IT teams to learn more about services and potentially hand off work as needed.
  • Train and hand off solutions to end-users.

Research

  • Research tools and solutions based on project needs.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in the IT productivity, communication, and collaboration space.

Design 

  • Explore and select proper tools based on the end-users’ needs.
  • Build “out-of-box” (little to no custom development) solutions using selected tools that fit the needs of the project(s).
  • Manage available resources such as hardware, data, and personnel so that deadlines are met.

Testing

  • Test solutions internally and with end-users to ensure they work properly.
  • Test new tools and hardware discovered in the research process.
  • Document and present results that could recommend changes in the university’s software or hardware suite.
