Our client, a Needham-based life sciences company, is in need of a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time HR Coordinator on a temporary basis. This individual will provide hands-on support across key HR functions including payroll and benefits administration, compliance and record-keeping, and employee relations. The ideal candidate is organized, discreet, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Position: Part-Time HR Coordinator (Temporary)
- Location: On-site, Needham, MA
- Hours: 25 hours per week
- Length: 3-6 months
Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing in ADP by collecting, reviewing, and submitting timekeeping data
- Respond to routine employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and direct deposit
- Support open enrollment and ongoing benefits administration (health, dental, vision, 401k) including employee changes, new enrollments, and terminations
- Coordinate with benefits brokers and carriers to resolve employee issues and confirm coverage
- Track and reconcile benefit invoices for approval
Compliance & Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee personnel files (digital and/or physical) in accordance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EEO, Massachusetts state labor laws)
- Assist with preparation and filing of required compliance documents (I-9 verification, EEO records, etc.)
- Support internal audits and ensure HR documentation is audit-ready at all times
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as a reliable first point of contact for general employee HR questions and direct complex matters to appropriate leadership
- Assist with coordinating employee recognition programs, team events, and engagement initiatives
- Support offboarding processes including exit paperwork, final pay coordination, and equipment return checklist
Qualifications
Required:
- 3–5 years of HR experience in any industry
- Working knowledge of payroll processes and benefits administration
- Familiarity with HR compliance requirements including I-9, HIPAA, and Massachusetts labor law
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); hands-on experience with
- ADP Workforce Now required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with
- discretion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification
- Experience supporting a small-to-mid-sized company (25–75 employees)
- Familiarity with benefits broker relationships and open enrollment coordination
