Our client, a prestigious university in Boston, is looking for a  bilingual (Spanish) speaking Research Assistant (RA) to work on a clinical trial at the School of Social Work.
This is a mentored position that offers valuable research experience in addiction/clinical psychology, health disparities, and culturally sensitive treatment approaches. It is an ideal position for individuals hoping to apply to graduate or medical school. As a mentored position, the successful candidate will have access to faculty support in preparing graduate school applications and will have the opportunity to strengthen applications through co-authorship on papers and on conference presentations of scholarly research.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  •  Study recruitment and enrollment with a Spanish-speaking and Black adult population. This will consist of traveling to sites to post flyers, making screening calls to determine eligibility, and scheduling and completing study assessments, either over the phone or in person at a medical center.
  • Assisting with data collection, scoring, and entry, monitoring the participant log and scheduled visits, and coordinating and disbursing payment procedures for participants.
  • Conducting qualitative interviews and assisting with transcribing and coding data using NVivo.
  • Conducting basic analyses of data using SPSS.
  • Other responsibilities include helping to coordinate updates to the study team website and assisting with grant progress reports and applications, assisting with manuscript preparation including references, formatting manuscripts in APA style, and with submissions to the Institutional Review Board.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with culturally diverse individuals, demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work on a team. The RA must have high motivation to learn.

The individual should be comfortable working with diverse issues related to substance use, mental health, health disparities, and cultural diversity.

Qualifications and Experience level:
  • Bilingual Spanish (Native speakers strongly encouraged)
  • 1-3 years of related/research experience, excellent attention to detail required
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Technological fluency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Analytical skills and ability to resolve problems strongly desired
  • Ability to independently take initiative strongly desired
  • BA or BS in psychology or related field preferred.
  • Must be able to work some evenings/weekends when necessary.
  • Some travel to study sites required.
