Giving Thanks–In Writing
You’ve made it through the interview. And now you might be tempted to collapse, but not so fast! While the interview is still fresh in your mind, it’s the perfect time to compose your thank you note. And there’s no better time to discuss thank you emails than Thanksgiving week! Today we’re talking about what you need to know about working with a staffing agency to perfect the art of showing gratitude to your would-be boss.
Since you’re going through a staffing agency, you don’t have to worry about accidentally messing up an interviewer’s email address! In fact, you get an extra set of eyes on your work. While you should be proofreading and editing the email on your own, it’s helpful to have an outside perspective to catch any small mistakes–especially from the person who connected you with the client and made this job opportunity happen. It might sound cheesy, but teamwork really does make the dream work.
Speaking of details, be sure to include specifics from your interview in your thank you email. Remember that interviewers often see several candidates. Use your message as a moment to remind them of a positive part of your unique conversation. For example, you can mention that you really appreciated your discussion about [insert element of the job that really excited you!]. This specific something will help remind them exactly who you are and let you stand out from the crowd–while also demonstrating that you were paying attention, a skill that your potential future employer will definitely appreciate.
Above all, keep in mind that your goal in sending this note is to convey your gratitude. Be sure to thank your interviewer for their time. Employers are more likely to hire you if you write a good thank you note, so putting in this effort can only have a positive impact on your job hunt.
