Having a Good Work Ethic Will Always Pay Off
Whether you are the smartest worker in the office, or a less talented one, having a good work ethic may mean the different between who stays and who gets laid off, or who gets a promotion and who continues toiling away in their same cubicle.
How can you tell if someone has a good work ethic? It is the person who always gives it their all no matter what the task, duty, or job at hand. It is the individual who works hard in a position, whether it is their first job or their seventh and at an executive management level. It is the man or woman who not only takes full responsibility for the good and the bad, but they make sure they meet all professional obligations and on time.
Managers, supervisors and business owner can spot such superstars easily. They are the workers who come in early, skip lunch, or leave late when an important project needs to be done, or a vital report needs to be finished, or other duties need to be completed, whether or not office hours have officially ended.
Individuals with a good work ethic go the extra distance for personal pride and professional satisfaction. They can’t help it if decision makers, in turn, not only recognize their value and worth but reward such behavior with promotions, raises and a chance for even more advancement.
As most managers will attest, if they had to choose between a smart clock watcher or someone who may be a little less talented, but with a good strong work ethic, the more conscientious worker will always win out in the end.
