Give Yourself Energy Boosts in Any Professional Environment

by Apr 6, 2021

As we continue to navigate storms both literal and figurative, it’s important to keep your body and mind in tip-top shape, whether you’re working from home or onsite. Taking this holistic approach will help you persevere through any circumstances you encounter in any professional environment. Now that spring is truly here, we know you might find yourself fantasizing about summer’s even warmer weather, and staying mentally present in your workplace may feel like more of a mental drain than it did before. We may not be personal trainers, but we have collected some surefire ways to give yourself an energy boost. That way you can keep going strong throughout your workday–and beyond! So don’t let this week’s grey skies get you down. Instead, check out what the pros have to say below about the best ways to keep your energy up each and every day at work.

We love this quick and easy step from Alexis Wolfer at Business Insider: “Drink water. When glued to your desk, it can be hard to remember to drink enough water — and even harder to tell when you’re showing the early signs of dehydration. But when your energy is low, opt for a big glass of H2O instead of a refill on your cup of Joe and you’ll feel instantly energized (without the risk of an impending caffeine crash).” Fun fact: 71% of planet Earth is made up of water. And, at about 60%, the average human is largely composed of H2O, too! Keep your ship sailing amidst stormy seas: keep drinking water. While you’re at it, remind your colleagues to keep hydrating as well. This is a great way to keep yourself focused when you find that walking around your workplace (or apartment, depending on your organization’s policies) might pose a challenge. The other great thing about this method is it involves materials that you already have.

Now that you’re hydrated, make sure you’re properly fueling yourself! Ashley Stahl at Forbes has just the suggestion for the best way to power up: “Eat smarter. First things first. Don’t skip breakfast! Have a small meal at the very least to get your metabolism going. Then, throughout the day, practice mindful eating and listen to your body. If you need a snack, keep it well-balanced to avoid a mid-afternoon crash. Try something with equal protein and carbs to avoid blood sugar spikes (and drops).” Get your workday off to a great start by eating breakfast. Then make sure to keep your brain and body fueled as you continue to work throughout the day! This also serves as another great opportunity to connect with your co-workers while also taking on a leadership role–remind your colleagues to keep eating! You can also share your favorite recipes, further fostering a sense of community in any professional environment. Remember, too, to be mindful of any messes you’re making along the way. Let your meals serve as fueling sessions for you rather than distractions to your coworkers. Keeping your workspace tidy will also help give you a boost of energy during your work day.

Follow these tips and you’re sure to keep your energy up amidst any stormy circumstances, to weather any storm. Just as April showers bring May flowers, let the rain inspire you to stay hydrated! It’s an easy task to do that’s also easy to forget about, so we’re always happy to remind you and that quick way to keep your brain alert while you’re at work. Make sure to continue your holistic approach to giving yourself energy boosts in any professional environment by eating smarter, staying fueled throughout the day. Utilizing these tips and tricks will help you keep going no matter what your work day throws your way. So let your unique strengths shine! And we’ll see you again tomorrow for a midweek mood boost with our Wednesday Wellness: Weathering the Storm edition.
